 I see [NOTHING] in your e y e s;;
« Thread Started on Aug 4, 2007, 8:25am »

Nothing but silence lingered, cast down upon him like he was in a void of nothingness. All he could hear was the sound of his own breathing, all he could feel was the pounding of his heart against his chest, all he could see was darkness. But then he opened his eyes, those stunning grey eyes and he cast them upwards, up towards the leafy canopy. The pupils dilated at the sight of the sun rays that were able to penetrate through the gaps above, it was a faint orange and red, telling the warlock that the sun was setting. He loved that time of day, when day turned to night; it seemed like the world was transformed into something else. It was the time that vampires came out to play, the time when there was a chance of blood staining the ground.

A frown creased the male's lips at the thought of the bloodsuckers, feeling the hatred surge through him, feeling the warmth it brought with it despite the fact that it was a rather chilly day. Then he felt it, felt it sweeping in through him from the surroundings: from the air, the trees, the grass, everything. Then the warlock raised his right hand, feeling the energy gather up and soon enough his hand began to give off a redish-orange glow, starting from his fingertips then spreading all the way down to his wrist. It was whispy, mist-like, then it began to move away from his flesh, forming into a sphere and hovered just above his hand. Then without warning, it flew from his hand into the nearby tree and with a blast, pieces of wood flew to the ground in splinters, leaving a hold right smack in the middle of the tree's trunk.

Rafe Zalamea found himself breathing heavily, his chest heaving up and down, his right hand curled into a fist. It was situations like these that he feared being around others he cared for; despite all his trainings, strong emotions always got the best of him, always made him lose control. Out of most of the witches and warlocks he had met, not one of them lost control over such feelings, it was most probably because Rafe could channel energy from his surroundings and use it to perform magic. Grey eyes closed once more as Rafe took in steady and deep breaths, letting it out slowly and he found a sense of tranquility settle over him.

As his breathing rate slowed down to normal and his heart gave of steady beats, Rafe reopened his eyes, focusing his gaze onto the hole he had created. Running a hand through his blond-brown hair absentmindedly, which had taken on the bed-hair. Finally satisfied that he had regained control, he pushed himself up from his sitting position, getting off the rather large rock that he had settled himself on just previously. Dusting off his dark grey trousers, he soon tugged on the bottom of his white shirt, a few buttons left unbuttoned at the top, revealing the upsidedown cross which was attached to a thin leather strap.

The nineteen year old warlock began to move now, heading over to the tree he had just blasted. Upon reaching it, he placed his right palm flat against the tree's bark, just beside the hole, concentrating hard, he could feel the small vibes beneath his hand and then his left hand- which still remained by his side- splayed out and he found himself connected to the invisible energies again, feeling the warmth through his left arm, across his chest and down his right arm and to his right hand. A blue-green glow appeared this time, spreading out over the hole and slowly but surely, the wood began to extend, covering up the hole, starting deep within the tree then to the surface. There was no trace of there every being a hole now.

Withdrawing his hand from the wooden surface, he turned around, leaning his back against the tree. Then he caught something, a sound that didn't come from him. Grey eyes darted from one shadow to the next, gazing up above, realising that the sun had fully set and the moon had taken it's place. Lowering his gaze, he glanced around, a rather calm aura in his actions. Then he heard it again, the sound. It was closer this time, muscles tensed ever so slightly, awaiting for someone or something to reveal itself.

She giggled a bit"You seemed angry"she said laughing. Her purplish gray eyes looked at him with innocence."Why must you be so violent?''she asked in a childish voice.Although she was 15 years old she had a childish tone that was light and had no bite to it.She walked a little further out of the shadows.

Her teeth seemed sharp as if she were a vampire but she wasn't at all.Her little skull earrings on her sharply pointed ears hung dropping down a little bit.She smiled softly.Still watching him.She tilted her big hat a little bit.at the end was a little golden stone and tied to the hat as well.she smiled exposing her sharp teeth.

"It's nice to meet you"she said still smiling"now what exactly are you doing?"she asked looking at him still with innocent eyes. Her little skirt blew slightly in the wind and she giggled a bit.She stood next to a tree and stared at him waiting for answers to all her little questions she threw at him.She tended to do that.

As the voice came from within the shadows, Rafe registered them in his mind before he looked over towards the direction of where the voice had come from. It was then that the figure made an appearance, stepping out of the shadows and whatever of the moon's rays were able to shine down gave him enough light to take in the major details of her appearance. She was young, looking only around fifteen or something. He remained silent as he sized her up briefly, she looked slightly familiar, like he had seen her around briefly. Perhaps he had. Rafe remained silent as she continued to speak, taking in her words once again.

As she seemed to have finished asking her questions, the warlock folded his arms across his chest, still leaning against the tree. His muscles had long relaxed when she had made her appearance, finding her no threat seeing as she was like him, a witch. Replaying her questions in his head, a small smile graced his lips and decided to reply, "Violent?" He asked rhetorically, then with a small shrug of his shoulders he continued, "Well, in order to survive, perhaps we have to be violent." Grey eyes casted down onto the ground briefly, staring at nothing in particular, "It was how I was brought up." He murmured in a low voice under his breath.

With a pause in his words, letting silence settle in for a small moment, he spoke again. "I could ask you the same question." That was his answer to her question of what he was doing. His gaze rose again, looking over at the purple-grey eyed girl. Wondering whether she was going to tell him or not. It was really none of his business, but he was curious. Shifting his feet slightly, Rafe kept his steady gaze on the girl, barely faltering.

OoC: Sorry, got distracted again.

She laughed"i'm because i wanna be"she said smirking"but what is someone with such talents doing out here?"she asked eyeing him with respect gleaming in her eyes. She giggled a bit more.her childish laugh sounded so funny.

"May i ask your name?"she asked looking at him she bounced around eagerly. She couldn't stay still she was always this crazy.she sighed and climbed up at tree.this should keep me still for now.She thought to herself."oh oh by the way i'm Reverie!"she said still sounding like a kid.

She sat up in the tree running her hand along the rough bark of it in a way it was soft but you would really have to understand to realize it.She kept smilingand swung her legs slightly as she sat in the tree.the little bag trown over her arm hung lightly as she sat.

A one sided smile tugged against the corners of Rafe's lips as he heard the girl's question. Talents. What talents? The talent to lose control? But she didn't know that, whatever she saw, she most probably thought it was done by free will. With yet another non-chalant shrug of his shoulders, the warlock found himself replying yet again. "I may not be as talented as you think I am." He decided to let it drop there, not really wanting to say that in the first place but it had slipped out before he could stop himself. So in hope to move the girl's mind away from his previous statement he spoke again, "I come here often, mainly to have some peace." Grey eyes diverted off the girl to look around briefly, out of both habit and caution; it wasn't rare for a beast attack to happen here, or for a vampire to show up, despite the fact that this was the Witches' territory.

As soon as he was satisfied that there was no potential threat lingering about, he brought his attention back to the young witch. Another small smile formed onto his lips, watching as she began to climb up the tree, yet like the others he had given her, the smile never reached his eyes. "Rafe." He stated, "Rafe Zalamea." He unfolded his arms from his chest, his hands finding their way to his trousers and slipping into the front pockets casually. It was a habit of his, to do such when he was standing still for a while. You might occasionally see his hands in his pockets when he walks as well.

The girl's voice seemed to bring Rafe comfort, there was so much life in every word she spoke. While Rafe's barely held much joy but if anything, it was monotonic. Perhaps years of killing would do that to you, born and bred to be a warrior of a war that wasn't really his own, but he never knew that. Vampires were his enemy, it had been planted in his brain ever since he could understand. No, Rafe was rather oblivious that he had no real reason to hate the vampires. "Reverie, isn't it past your bedtime?" He asked casually. It wasn't an insult, far from it really, he wasn't intending on offending her but he found it rather unusual to see a young witch or wizard out in the forest at this time.

She smiled"Nope"she said laughing"i have no bedtime."she said giggling"shouldn't you be at home aswell"she said shaking her finger at him."its getting dark and you shouldn't be out so late."she said straightening up a bit because she was gonna fall if she didn't.

Her bag was so heavy and it was puling her down. She sighed and pulled it up to sit it on her lap.to much fragile stuff in the bag for her to let it drop and she was being to lazy to climb down and set it on the ground. She leaned back onto the tree abd pulled her hair back out of her face.

(ooc:being so lazy can't feel hand has o do more stuff with hands ah gawd my hand hurts)

OoC: Lol, it's alright.

BiC:
The gesture Reverie gave him, that of shaking her finger, reminded him of what his mother used to do when Rafe was younger. Like the time when Rafe was ten and he had decided to sneak out of the house and- Rafe cut that thought short; it was a memory he'd much rather not want to be replayed. Pushing those unwanted memories back, he focused his attention back on the young witch, a small chuckle leaving his lips, it was rather cold, "If you should worry about anyone, it should be yourself." Rafe stated, "I'm capable of looking after myself." And upon his words, he found himself glancing around again before looking back at the girl perched on the tree.

Watching her shift a few times, Rafe soon shifted his own position, straightening up so that he was no longer leaning against the tree. His hands slipped out of his pockets and hung by his sides. "How about I take you home." He offered, traces of warmth in his voice. If something were to happen, such as an attack from some forest beast or such, he'd much rather prefer that she wasn't in danger; he was not one to babysit. But of course, he didn't know how skilled the girl was, if anything, the girl could defend herself. "I'm sure your parents would much rather prefer you to be safe at home rather than prowling around the forest after dark."

Rafe had heading towards the tree Reverie was sitting on as she spoke but as soon as he heard her reply, he stopped in his tracks, simply looking up at her, a look of apology in his eyes. He seemed to have brought up a rather touchy subject, just from her reply, he could tell that things weren't all rainbows and butterflies between the young witch and her parents. So he let it drop, deciding that it was her choice really. Grey eyes dropped away from her form and settled to the ground as he heard her next statement, only to raise slightly and fix themselves onto the tree's bark.

Home. Where was home? Home is where the heart is, or so they say. But where was his heart? Rafe wasn't so sure. If anything, Rafe didn't really consider anywhere home, he was simply just here. So ignoring the home question, Rafe brought himself to smile as he looked up at her again, deciding to reply to her next statement instead. "I'm sure you can." He said, there was no sarcasm in his voice; he wasn't one to judge whether Reverie could look after herself or not seeing as he had never seen her perform any magic. Then again, you yourself only knew what you were truely capable of and no one else.

She sighed a bit "i have way to much stuff"she said so nobody could hear. She pulle dthe bag off of her body and hung it on the thickest branch she could find.It was close to her reach dso if her heavey bag did break thetree or the other way around she could catch it."Now.."she said looking at him"We've been talking for a bit"she said to him.

"lets be friends!"she said loudly in her playful voice."it'll be fun promise!"She said still looking down at him."Besides i haven't had a friend since then"she said toning down her loud almost yelling voice. She was telling the truth she hadn't had a friend since she was jsut a child.her parents would keep her in the house so she couldn't really make friends. She was lucky to get out this time.

Since then? Since when? Rafe found himself pushing down the question, noticing just by her change of voice that that topic had a chance of being a rather touchy one. Staring at her for a while in silence, the warlock soon gave one nod of his head. "Yeah, alright." He stated, "Friends." He said in agreement. A small smile formed onto his lips. Shifting his position slightly, he spoke once more, "How old are you anyway?" He asked, he had thought her to be in her early teens, by the looks of her. But her personality had made him doubt that.

Moving forward again, Rafe looked away from Reverie as he did so, heading over to the tree she sat on, he leaned his back against the bark and slid down until he was sitting on the ground, cross legged. His eyes swept the area once more, strangely enough, it was peaceful tonight. Good. He tilted his head back against the tree and closed his eyes, taking in all the sounds around him as he waited for her reply. He could hear the small hum of the magical energies lingering around them. His parents had never been able to hear it, so it awed them when they finally figured out how Rafe managed to perform magic. It had confused him at first, seemingly able to cast spells- minor ones- without using words, but he could hear the small hums, knowing that it must be it. He later went off to different Warlocks and Witches, trying to find the answer and on his fifth try, he recieved it. Magical energies within objects both animate and inanimate, also known as Sykelym Ahanko.

She looked down at him for a moment."15"she said watchinf him'how bout you"she asked looking ahead of her into the other trees that were wrapped in darkness. She smiled softly and then looked up to the tops of the trees. The night was pretty silent it had been a while since she had been out at night.

"good"she said softly to herlsef. She liked the night and its peaceful charm. She yawned a bit and closed her eyes and kept her head pointed up towards the tops of the dark green trees with some light green splotches where the light from the moon hit.

Rafe nodded in acknowledgment as Reverie replied to his question. "Nineteen." He stated as she had asked the question in return. He reopened his eyes, tilting his head back further so he could see her. He looked at the girl for a few moments before tilting his head back down, now looking ahead of him. A small sigh left his lips and he soon found his thoughts taking over his mind as he began to zone out into his own little world.

OoC: Gah! Writer's block.

She nodded"ok"she said quietly. She looked down at him for a moment then back at the tops of the trees.Maybe soon it would be light again,But it really didn't matter to her she was perfectly fine with it being dark after living her life in solitude it was like living in the dark. She looked dazed as she watched the trees gentle blow in the breeze. She relaxed and watched the sky although the tree was rough she still liked it.
